Absorption of carbon dioxide through photosynthesis contributes to the mitigation of global warming. Because of their ability to reproduce rapidly, they are seen as a potential source of biomass energy and, because of their high nutritional value, can also be used as a food resource. In addition, they are very effective in water purification. Microalgae are considered an indispensable biological resource for ensuring environmental sustainability, as they can grow anywhere, even on land unsuitable for general agriculture and cultivation, from snow-capped mountains to hot springs.
